This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe is a piece of American Automotive history, and one of the most influential cars ever built. At the time, ”sports car” in the United States meant a nice little cruiser. The Corvette launched its 2nd generation with the birth of the Stingray with a complete redesign barely resembling its predecessors. The Stingray was lighter, had independent suspension, and was aerodynamically tested. The only American cars that could produce similar speed were large, heavy Super Stock optioned Mopars and Super Duty Pontiacs. The United States had produced a true all-around sports car. 1963 Corvette Coupes are affectionately nicknamed ”Split Windows” after the divided rear window that was eye-catching but also controversial. GM Head Designer Bill Mitchell fought Corvette Chief Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov for the inclusion of the feature. After the 1963 model year, the GM executives sided with Duntov and the Split Window was just a one-year happening. The distinction of this rare look, and the birth of the stingray causes Split Windows to be one of the most highly sought after American collector cars.

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this highly original and well documented example of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe for your consideration. With the meticulously kept notes from previous owners, Bloomington Gold certification offered with this model and plenty of receipts of its more recent work, this is a true survivor that has had the fortune of staying unmolested and kept true to its original form! Featuring the 327/300 HP V8 engine mated to its Powerglide transmission, this vehicle drives as well as it looks with its power steering and posi-traction. With its Sebring Silver exterior and classic wheels, the sharp styling and split-window design is emphasized with its excellent color choice which stands tall considering it’s believed to never have been fully repainted. Inside this model the black vinyl is in excellent condition considering its originality and with only one patched tear in the passenger seat to be found, the dash is original as well with no clear signs of deterioration, the tinted windshield from the factory looks great, a signal-seeking AM radio still present and functioning and the gauges all seem to be functioning well for its next owner. Power windows add to the comfort and ease of driving and not enough can be said for the original state this vehicle sits in today.
