1959 Renault Dauphine

I bought this nice little Dauphine from a gentleman in Portland, Oregon. The car belonged to his late wife and he kept it in his garage, covered for many years, for its sentimental value. My parents used to own one just like this when I was a kid, and I couldn’t resist it. The engine would not start and the brakes were seized when I bought it. The paint appears to be original, and there are quite a few dents all around the body, but what surprised me the most is that there’s literally no rust on this car. The trunk (forward position) and the engine compartment are in excellent shape. All decals, identification plates and painted references are still present and intact. The car comes with a few spare parts, and a very useful (in english) Renault Repair and Tune-Up Guide.
I had the headliner and the 2 front seats upholstery replaced professionally at a cost of $1450. (Ouch!… All custom made, since no aftermarket replacement was available).
We replaced the batterie, the distributor, spark plugs and wires, and the fuel pump.
We rebuilt the carburetor with a Solex carburetor rebuilt kit.
We removed the gas tank and had the interior cleaned-up and treated. We replaced the fuel sending unit and fuel lines.
Finally, we just replaced the master cylinder, the 4 brake lines and all 4 wheel cylinders. (That was no fun…)
The car starts, runs, and drives just fine. It looks incredibly nice down the road.
It brakes and steers with absolutely no issue. The little 3 speed manual transmission and the clutch work perfectly.
All gauges and lights work. Even the old original radio works.
The horn is the only equipment that doesn’t work.
Equipped with 5 Michelin tires (4 + spare). The 2 back tires should be replaced soon. (The car would look awesome with 4 white wall tires, but as I’m concerned, I’m stopping the bleeding…)
Spare, jack and crank are in place. (You can start the engine with the crank).
I spent countless hours locating and ordering all the parts from France.
Drive it as-is, and watch people’s reaction when they see you, or take it the next stage and own a very rare and unique collector.
This Dauphine is an “Export” model, built exclusively for the US market.
I will provide more pictures if asked, mostly from the undercarriage, to show how dry and solid this car is.
I don’t have the use, not the space, for this little Renault unfortunately. Pure nostalgia is the reason I bought it, and I’m quite proud to see it running again today. I’m just looking to get my investment back.
I’ll do my best to answer all the questions you may have.

Red with black top and tan interior. Originally a CA. car. This is a solid running and driving car. I have owned for 19+ years. During that time the car has always been garaged when not in use. It has a 1600 cc engine that has been rebuilt, including installation of hardened valve seats. Transmission has been rebuilt including replacement of the second gear synchronizing hub. Many hours of work have been spent replacing/refurbishing parts. Too many to list here. Call for a complete list. I’m not sure about the mileage on the vehicle. The odometer shows 6015. I have to believe the it has rolled once. Vehicle to be sold “as is”.

$35000

Very rare 1958 Citroen Vanstore with 40,000 original miles. It has a 4 cyl engine and manual trans. Needs work on the brakes. When parked, the van has a second roof that slides all the way back doubling the length and the 5 side doors open up effectively making the size of the van twice as long and twice as wide. These trucks were used for open air markets in France and this one sold tools. The possibilities for this van are endless. It gets more attention from people than anything I have ever seen.

1952 XK120 FHC

White with red interior. Leather is in very good condition and may be original to the car. Wood is good driver condition. All original instruments. Headliner is excellent. The car received a major renovation in the 1970’s and I have a pile of receits.

Matching number head, block and gearbox

Runs and Drives well. Brakes work well

This car was in one family for decades and then owned by an older gentleman collector who owned it for years and drove it occasionally. Has had a lot of recent maintenance including new motor mounts and a brake overhaul. All in all just good ‘ol Jag. Not a show car, but a very solid driver.

Call me if you are interested and can pay for the car. Will consider trades up or down on other nice antique car(s). No junk, no boats, no motorcycles.

Year: 1957 Make:Jaguar Model:XK-Series Trim:XK 140 FHC Mileage:14,366 Stock #:5740BW VIN:S5815740BW Trans:Automatic Color:White Vehicle Type:Coupe State:MD Drive Train:RWD Engine:3.4 Liter DOHC Notes Very solid restoration candidate of the timeless XK 140FHC. Just bought out of large private collection where it has been stored inside since 1988. Good history, showing car came from second owner who had since 1975. Matching # engine and transmission that we got started in a few days. Does need major service of course but excellent compression. Looks to have always been white with very straight rust free body and decent trim and glass. Car looks to have started restoration many years ago then owner just had too many cars to keep up and eventually passed away leaving several of his collection midway restored. Interior is all there except door panels but needs to be redone of course. All rockers and jams are solid as well as the trunk and floors. Engine compartment is decent but once gain needs finishing. Brakes had started a service then stopped but all parts are there. Underneath is very solid with pictures available upon request. Overall a good car that needs to be brought back to its former glory. Vehicle Options

  • Bucket Seats
  • Tachometer
  • Woodgrain
