Barn find! Literally found in a barn. Original owner purchased new and died 18 months later. Been sitting in barn since as a home for countless generations of rats. I poured fuel down carbuerator and jump started it. Too my amazement, it idled. I purchased it from owners grandchild and began a rebuild project. Replaced all rubber, rebuilt engine, milled down heads, painted a gritty desert sand color. As I continued, I realized the car was pretty much sound. It has less then 12,000 original miles. I could not find a new dashboard so a cover was placed over it, but I just got a complete dash with all gauges. It has been fitted with a Bluetooth stereo system, rally lights and a few other little items. Starts right up but smokes a bit. I’m certain its a stuck valve because rebuilt heads were sprayed over with some type of paint and I think it caused a valve to stick. Luckily, the engine can be pulled out within an hour…I’ve done it half a dozen times already. Due to recently purchasing a new house with horse stables, my focus will be on other priorities, thus I decided to sell. $5000 firm. All customization are bolt-ons. This can be an ultimate show vehicle. Call or text at 469-five hundred-6766.

Mazda Will Host Classic Japanese Rally

::cck::802
::/introtext::

Mazda will collaborate with Japanese Nostalgic Car to host Touge California, an all-Japanese vintage car rally featuring 28 cars from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s snaking from San Diego to Irvine, April 2.

“Our heritage cars aren’t just museum pieces; they’re meant to be driven,” said Robert Davis, Mazda North American Operations senior vice president, U.S. Operations.. “This is a rare chance to see all of these beautiful vintage cars where they were meant to be—on the road.”Mazda will have 11 cars in the rally including several wicked rotaries.

Unfortunately, The rally won’t really feature any Japanese cars from the countries best era: the 1990s. MKIV Supra, Miata, SVX, NSX, FD RX-7, MR2 Turbo, R34 GT-R, 240SX, 300ZX, Celica GT-Four, 3000GT VR4. These are the most iconic cars to come out of the land of the Rising Sun. These are the cars that should be featured in a great Japanese-American rally. Just don’t slam them and add underglow LEDs and fat spoilers… actually yes. Do add those.

Heat fixed and just got new wires/relays for the head lights

This classic 1978 Subaru brat started its life in California. It then moved to Arizona and spent the majority of it’s life in the desert until moving to San Diego where I purchased the car. As a result, the car is in good condition with very little rust. Mechanically the car is sound, I drove it from California to Dallas and didn’t have any major issues. While on the trip I ran into a snow storm and was able to use the single speed 4×4. It worked better than I could have ever imagined and I found myself passing much larger/modern vehicles that were stuck in the snow. It has a manual transmission and a 4 cylinder engine so it gets low to mid 20s in gas mileage. It turns heads no matter where you go and is a blast to drive. AC and Heat are both currently broken but are in tach. The headlights require a box of fuses because it blows them sometimes. It leaks a little trans fluid. Overall the car is a great little ride and really is one of my favorites to drive. Only reason I am selling is to buy another classic to drive across country because why not adventure 🙂

1970 Subaru 360 Deluxe Sedan. From the era of microcars.

For those of you who are not familiar with these cars, please visit http://www.subaru360club.org/ and click on ‘The History of the 360’.

It has 356cc two-cylinder two-stroke engine with a 3-speed-plus-overdrive (technically a 4-speed) transmission. It is two-door (suicide doors) with seating for 4.

It was almost completely intact when I got it and in very good overall condition. I have completely gone through it and everything now works and looks as it should.

The car has 24,000 miles on it. Work done includes:
• Brakes completely redone (cylinders redone, shoes, cut drums, re-pack wheel bearings).
• 4 new tires.
• All new shocks.
• New shifter bushings.
• Rebuilt starter.
• Rebuilt carb.
• New plugs, wires, rotor, distributer cap.
• New door and rear sidewindow weatherstripping.
• New black plastic edge trim in all original locations.
• New air and fuel filters.
• New rear axle-to-transmission seals and CV boots.
• New windshield wiper blades.

It has the original spare tire, factory wiring for towing the car, door stickers (break-in, speeds, tire pressure), 4 original hubcaps.

Modifications include:
• Electric fuel valve to replace the always-faulty vacuum valve.
• Electric windshield washer fluid pump/switch to replace the manual push-bulb pump (the electric switch is hidden inside the rubber push-bulb so it appears original).
• Larger-than-original convex outside rear-view mirrors on the original mirror stems.
• Larger interior rear-view mirror.
• New aluminum fuel tank (those who know about these cars understand why).
• Door pulls on the inside of the door (otherwise you pull on the door handle, which wears them out).

The interior is all original and in VERY good condition, except the mat over the fuel tank in the rear is new carpet. The rubber floor mats are not torn or worn and LAY FLAT. The rubber covers over the wheel wells inside are in the same condition. The rubber mudflaps are still in place and in good condition as well and they are FLAT (not curled).

Minuses (though minor).
• There is no headliner, but the inside of the roof panel is clean.
• It had no rear window when purchased so I had one fabricated from Lexan. It is clean, clear and scratch-free.
• As the car had the roof removed when I got it (hence the missing rear glass), it also was missing the chrome trim for the roof gasket. It is replaced with rubber piping to lock the gasket in place. NO LEAKS at the roof or the rear window.
• The license plate light is not original, though the new one replicates the original.
• This car NEVER had a back-up light.
• The front of the floor pans have been replaced with new steel welded in place. The rest of the body is rust-free and solid.
• I had the car re-painted with new white paint. Then some shmuck damaged the hood and left front fender. They were repaired and repainted but, even though the white paint used for touch-up came from the same painter, it is slightly off.
• There are a few minor defects in the paint: on the ledge above the driver’s door handle, the top of the left front fender, at the edge of left side of the hood and next to the gas filler door. They do not significantly detract from the appearance and could be touched-up without major work
• The front parking lights/turn signals are not original but they very closely resemble the originals.
• The ‘Subaru 360’ badge on the rear hood is a replica.

EVERYTHING works! The car starts, runs, drives and stops fine. It gets more attention than anything else I’ve ever owned, mostly because it is so unusual and most people have never heard of them, let alone seen one. I’ve enjoyed this car for just under 3 years, but the disease has kicked in again and it’s time for something different.

Included are many spare parts: 4 pistons, 1 cylinder, extra seatbelts, 1 NEW and 2 used oil pumps (very rare), 2 new brake shoes, 3 old shoes with lining detached (could be re-bonded if needed), several new rubber brake cylinders and seals, 1 short steel brake line, 1 new starter solenoid, several e-brake parts (for inside the drum), 1 signal flasher, 1 carb float, 1 interior light assembly, 1 New ‘Subaru’ script trim, 1 new trans gear (which one is unknown), 1 new axle shaft-to-transmission bearing, 1 new set of pints, 1 new air filter element, used-in-great-condition top rubber gasket, rear bumper and 1 choke/heater control panel assembly.

Top Five Cars for College

::cck::7

College is a turbulent time in a person’s life. I should know, I’m in college. You need to be prepared for almost any situation. Moving, road trips, winter, summer and running from the cops after spraypainted the hallowed statue of a school founder outside your student union are all things your car should be expected to be able to do. It should also be reliable and get good gas milage because you’re poor and can barely afford filling your tank with anything other than pocket change. God forbid if your car should break down. You might as well sell it for scrap and use the money to buy Ramen and toilet paper. But with all these necessities, is it too much to ask for a little fun from your car? The cars on this list are fun, funky and unique and all are great choices for a college student. If you’re on a budget, for $12,000 they will all be cheaper than the cheapest new car in America. In order from most practical to most fun…

Subaru Impreza Sedan Concept impresses boy racers everywhere

::cck::84
::/introtext::

Subaru debuted their new Impreza Sedan Concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show last week. The concept is the first example of Subaru’s new modular platform, which means the platform has many modules, I think (or, more seriously, that most new models will be built upon that platform, regardless of model type). Although just a concept, it will heavily influence the Impreza that will arrive within the next few years, as well as other future Subarus.

The new design, called Dynamic x Solid, is less angular and more muscular than Imprezas past, and even boasts an integrated rear spoiler for all those subtle racer boys out there. The front of the car has Subaru’s signature hexagonal grille and hawk-eye headlights. After all, it’s what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.

Assume a more racerified WRX and STI Impreza concepts will come along in the future as well. But for now, we can pour over this handsome press photo!
