For sale – 1972 BMW 2002

This BMW 2002 is in very nice shape inside and out. It has been properly maintained and presents very well. This BMW features many goodies that set it apart from the crowd. The exterior shines beautifully and has been fitted with Turbo flares and front spoiler. The interior is also in good shape and comes with Recaro bucket seats. Manual everything including the sunroof – less electronics, less problems!

The BMW features a tii swap with a Weber side draft carburetor to replace the highly problematic mechanical fuel injection system. The car has also been upgraded with a set of cams, headers and a stainless steel exhaust. The transmission is a 5-speed manual from an E21 with a limited slip differential (LSD). Clutch grab is excellent and the car goes through every gear with no issues.
The car was recently serviced which consisted of an oil/filter change, spark plugs & wires, Ignition coil, cap & distributor rotor, new brakes, poly engine / trans mounts and guibo.

This car is a true head turner! Please call or text show contact info for more info.

BMW Films Return with ‘The Escape’

Between 2001 and 2002, BMW released eight films called “The Hire” starring Clive Owen and other stars, which were essentially 10 minute car commercials, with action plots centered on car chases and BMWs. For enthusiasts, the original BMW Films represent what driving should always be about: excitement. Now BMW is releasing a new series of […]

One of a kind 1993 Euro import E34 M5 with a ultra rare 420HP aluminum 5.6L V12, S70B56 motor with a 6 speed manual Getrag 560G transmission, a UUC short shifter, Eisenman stainless exhaust and a Quaife limited slip differential. Front brakes are UUC 2-piece, 355 mm (14″) rotors and UUC 4 piston aluminum calipers. Rear brakes are UUC vented 328mm (12.9″) rotors and UUC 4 piston aluminum calipers. The suspension features EDCIII self leveling shocks, HR springs, updated sway bars and a strut tower brace. The exterior retains the euro clear blinkers, E code headlights and “Motorsport” door handles. In addition, the car comes with the very rare and desirable 17×8 forged Throwing Star wheels, including an extra full size wheel as a spare. The interior has manual leather sport seats, stitched leather center console and door skins. The original BMW 2″ trailer hitch is included. The tool kit is complete, including the euro safety triangle.

The custom driveline was hand built by Brett Anderson from Koala Motorsport in Cleveland OH in December of 2008 when the car had 73,057 miles. Currently, the car has 79,823 miles. The S70B56 V12 motor originally came out of a 850CSi. The 6 speed manual OEM BMW Getrag 560G transmission was NEW at the time of the build!!

The car performs flawlessly. All of the mechanicals are in VERY good working order. The clutch is perfect, the motor has no leaks, the AC works as it should, the suspension is firm and precise. Recent service includes, oil/filter change, coolant flush, brake flush, new radiator, new alternator, new tie rods, new sway bar links, alignment, new rear dog bones pitman arms, new front brakes and a new battery. Only known issue is the radio does not work due to what is believed to be a bad amplifier.

The diamond Swartz Metallic paint is in fair condition. The clear coat on the roof has deteriorated and needs to be repainted or perhaps wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl. The trunk lid has two spots where the clear is starting to break down. The hood is in decent shape. The doors, fenders and quarter panels show sings of clear coat wear consistent with BMW’s of this vintage. Overall the car represents well.

I have many high resolution photos I can send. In addition, I can do a FaceTime video call and walk around the car. The car has a clear Ohio title and is currently located in Rochester NY. Feel free to contact me if you have additional questions. Thank you, Tony. show contact info

BMW Shows Off Every Hommage Vehicle

::cck::947
::/introtext::

Every so often, BMW remembers that it used to make cars meant for more than just a two-year lease in metropolitan markets. When that happens, BMW churns out a Hommage vehicle inspired by one of their classic hits.

This year’s flavors include the BMW 2002 Hommage and Motorrad R 5 Hommage, hommages to, you guessed it, the BMW 2002 and R 5.

Feeling extra special during its 100th anniversary, BMW brought out all of its previous Hommage vehicles at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2016. If you don’t know what that is, it’s just an annual fancy car show in Lake Como, Italy where the uber rich show of their priceless metal, get boozed up, and have exotic luxury automakers show one-off cars inspired in design by the cars they all drove there in.

Including the 2002 Hommage and the R 5 Hommage, the rest of the Hommage lineup includes the M1 Hommage from 2008, 3.0 CSL Hommage from 2015, Concept Ninety from 2013, 328 Hommage from 2011, Concept Coupé Milla Miglia from 2006, and MINI ACV 30 from 1997.

So if you like the idea of over-designed, one-off show cars that see the light of day for just a few hours over one weekend before being shut away in a warehouse for years, here’s a photo of every BMW Hommage vehicle in its natural habitat- the manicured lawn of some mansion in Italy. Enjoy!

MINI Reveals Cooper Seven

::cck::930
::/introtext::

This week, MINI unveiled the first special edition version of the new MINI Cooper called the MINI Seven, meant to underline the German car’s distinctive British character.

Available in both three and five door versions of Cooper, it is an “expression of premium characteristics and individual style.” The Seven name comes from the Austin Seven, launched in 1959, which was the first model nameplate of the classic Mini.

The key exterior features separating the Seven from plebeian MINIs are the Lapisluxury Blue (or an additional three colors), roof and exterior mirror caps in Melting Silver, 17-inch light alloy wheels in an exclusive MINI Seven Spoke two-tone design, MINI Seven door sill finishers, side badges with a MINI Seven logo, and hood stripes in Melting Silver with surrounds in Malt Brown optional. So in reality, it is indistinguishable from the normal car.

But wait, there’s more! The interior upholstery comes in Diamond Malt Brown with Piano Black interior surfaces, but customers will be able to option Malt Brown surfaces. A MINI Seven logo will be in the central instrument cluster.

All in all, BMW’s MINI played the part of a college-aged 328i owner who pulled off all the badges and swapped them for ones that say M3. We’ll see these on Craigslist in 14 years time outrageously asking $500 over what you would normally pay for them. We can’t wait!

BMW Wants You to Keep Your “Eyes on Gigi”

::cck::851
::/introtext::

BMW has a history of strange marketing campaigns featuring high-profile stars. Remember the mini-video series featuring Clive Owen and various BMWs of the era called The Hire?

Well, BMW’s latest video marketing campaign features American supermodel Gigi Hadid, who apparently is very popular and has many Instagrams on Twitter and countless followers on Facebook. She gets into one of five of BMW’s new M2s as they dance around in elaborate car choreography that dazzles the viewer with the performance capabilities of M’s new monster.

The 360-degree interactive video, ever so creepily called “Eyes on Gigi”, is part commercial, part mini-game. Basically, it’s the old game with the ball and the cups. Which cup is the ball under? Watch carefully… take a guess! Who knows. You’re getting pick-pocketed at this very moment anyway.

Also, the press release made a point of rubbing it in our faces that part of Gigi’s compensation for the campaign was six free months in an M2. Oh, boy. We can’t wait to see it on her Instagram.

Marc Forster is the video’s director who stooped this low from films such as James Bond – Quantum of Solace, Monster’s Ball and World War Z. (It may have not been that far of a jump, after all).

If you want to play the game for yourself, head on over to eyesongigi.com.

Too Small is Just Right

::cck::819

When I bought my MINI Cooper S, I was a strapping young twenty-year-old college student/car enthusiast. I was moving off campus in the Fall and would therefore need a car to get around. I wanted the most fun and interesting car I could get, but there was a catch: my parents were helping me buy my first car. And by “helping” I obviously mean in exchange for the full price of the car, I would be supplying an I-O-U napkin with CAR written on it ala Dumb and Dumber. Since my napkin didn’t hold much actual monetary value, concerned-parent requirements were imposed. Safe, reliable, no convertible, no rear-wheel-drive.

Those constraints ruled out a lot of my favorable options. Minnesota is terrible to cars in the winter, so I played ball. I couldn’t get a Miata, no cheap Porsche, nor a funky old Volkswagen or ancient Saab.

As the interesting options fell away and my boy-racer dreams were slowly being crushed, I was left with one fun option: economic-derived hot hatches. Safe and practical, yet deceptively sporty. I looked at GTIs, Mazdaspeed3s, and WRXs. Speed3s were a tad too expensive and were prone to horrible rust; WRXs were too molested; I was too picky finding a GTI (Tartan seats on United Gray paint was a must). But then I stumbled across some MINIs and found that they were cheap and abundant. I was sold. They were fast, fun, safe, reliable, cool little carts that could be practical enough if I folded down the back seats and lied about their existence when people asked for rides.

My search eventually led to a 2006 MINI Cooper S in decent condition. I was smitten with this car that most people dismissed as too impractical and scary small. All the while I zipped around city traffic, darting between cars and drawing angry car horns. I owned it for two years, addicted to the whine of the supercharger, winding it up whenever I had an excuse, or for no reason at all. When I lifted off the accelerator pedal, the dudes from the Rice Krispy box danced in my exhaust: Snap, Crackle, Pop! “Why does it keep making that popping sound from the exhaust?” my passengers would often ask. “Because it sounds awesome,” I would reply.

I took Elizabeth camping at Road America two years in a row

As an auto enthusiast, the MINI was an excellent first car to own.  It performed  all the normal-car duties demanded of it, but in a style only the MINI could pull off. I’m not one of those nutty people who names their cars and gives them personalities, but I affectionately called her Elizabeth.
I took Elizabeth camping at Road America two years in a row, managing to pack a tent, sleeping bag, chair, coolers, and a fire pit into the back with the seats folded down (as my friends in their Porsche coupes had little room save for carefully stacked wood they had in the back, got to have even weight distribution, am I right?). That much handy equipment hadn’t been in something that British since Julie Andrews wrangled a few naughty children with only what she had in her deceptively roomy hand bag. If anyone ever said this car was too small to be practical, I can happily prove them wrong with pictures of a full armchair snuggled in the back. And the car was just special enough for me to be seen as a committed car-nut among other expensive and rare cars that were there that weekend. My MINI and I were accepted.

One of my favorite memories from my time with Elizabeth was one bright Sunday afternoon in early spring. I was going for a drive with my human girlfriend and I decided to drop by the local Jaguar, Audi and Porsche dealerships. I came to the end of the row of brand new F-Types and turned the corner to go down the next row. At that same moment, another MINI Cooper came around the end of another row. We both stopped and faced each other. In the opposite car sat a guy about my age and his girlfriend. All four of us burst into laughter at the sight of our doppelgangers. We continued on, passing each other row after row as we explored the neat cars the dealerships had on display. To this day I still wish I had gotten out and greeted my twin. We could have been very special friends.

All four of us burst into laughter at the sight of our doppelgangers

I ended up selling Elizabeth after I graduated from college. It wasn’t her, it was me. I wanted to trade up to something a little less reliable, a lot less new, a little more sporty and a bit more fun: a Porsche 944. But that  doesn’t mean I was happy to see my MINI go. I still miss her frequently. I get excited each time I pass a MINI on the streets, trying to catch the eye of the driver to convey that I too had once owned a MINI, that I was a part of their club. Maybe someday I’ll own another MINI, but I’ll forever be a MINI-evangelist.

Contact me for more current pictures along with a 74 Shot Profesional Photo Album and video of the car capturing immense detail in 2014.

Currently being imported from Germany, this 1988 Italian/Portuguese BMW M3 will quite possibly be the third to have ever reached the United States of America (Source BMW M Registry). Please take a moment and educate yourself on the rarity of this vehicle.

“I don’t know of any other 320is in the United States. I think it is a car for a very specific person; someone who understands that this is a special and unique car and the car doesn’t have to shout about it. It’s a car for someone who wants a total sleeper.” – 2014 Alex Palevsky, Curator of BMW M Registry

BMW World Magazine tested the 320is against an EVO2 M3 and came away saying, “It’s the 320is I’d take home.”

Full description:
An iconic BMW E30 M3 320is with true motorsport pedigree and history
European VIN# maybe verified at BMW M Registry

MODEL HISTORY
Exclusively produced for the Italian and Portuguese markets the 320is was manufactured by BMW Motorsport to take advantage of the reduced taxes in those countries for cars that displace two litres or less. It is powered by the same four cylinder S14 engine but produces 192bhp at 6900rpm opposed to 200bhp at 6750rpm for the regular M3. With a shorter stroke down to 2 liters (from 2.3) although lower powered and with less torque compared to the 2.3 M3 engine, performance is not hugely different due to lower weight, lower final drive gear ratio and lower capacity, infact its faster! The M3 dogleg gear box was also used in these models. Only 2542 units were produced compared to 18204 units of all M3 variants. (Source BMW M Registry).

EQUIPMENT
Complete M-Technic II aero package, shadowline window trim, front airdam, tachometer with integrated oil temperature gauge, power mirrors, central locking, power front windows, map lights in the rear view mirror, leather shift knob, air conditioning, interior headlight adjustment, electric clock. Racing Extras Summary: FIA-approved M3 OMP roll bar, Velocita OMP steering wheel and boss adjustable Eibach anti roll bar kit, Bilstein front and rear dampers, Supersprint stainless race exhaust, M Coupe diff cover, Turner Motor Sport E30 M3 oil pan baffle.

EXTERIOR
This stunning example is finished in factory Delphin metallic, (Paint Code 308), with a non-permanent classic Pantone M Power stripes. All factory trim remains intact and undamaged with the standard M-Technic aero package offering distinctive sporting looks with beneficial aerodynamic gains. Despite proven track potential this 320is offers real on road enjoyment with all running gear from E30 M3 items including adjustable suspension. Thousands have been spent on this structurally perfect shell to offer the ultimate M3 experience at a fraction of the cost, guaranteed.

INTERIOR
Simply sitting in the cockpit of this BMW raises the drivers pulse. Recaro Speed Seats at a cost £700 and Schroth Racing four-point FIA-approved harness at £245 offer unrivalled safety, support and comfort. The expensive but mandatory FIA-approved OMP roll cage continues the sporting theme. The rear interior trim has been removed but all carpeting, headlining, door cards, interior equipment and gauges are retained and function correctly. This example has been professionally modified with receipts to prove so fun, safety and style can be enjoyed fully.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A must drive for all car enthusiasts. This high revving S14 engine produces 192bhp, just 8bhp down on a regular M3. It has a four-valve head, individual throttle plates for each cylinder, machined intake and exhaust ports and a crankshaft with eight counterweights for smooth power delivery. Lift up the bonnet and the clean engine bay has an identical appearance to the unit found in the E30 M3 with the ‘BMW M Power’ inscription on its cam cover. The essential E36 M3 chain tensioner has been fitted along with a Turner Motor Sport oil pan baffle for high speed cornering. A five speed manual close-ratio Getrag transmission with a dogleg shift pattern is a delight to use and again identical to a regular E30 M3 with the added benefit of short shift action courtesy Z3M Coupe gear lever.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Two sets of BMW E30 M3 15″ BBS Cross Spoke alloy wheels with five stud wheel fixings are supplied. Quality Yokohama ‘S-Drive’ for road use and soft compound Toyo R888 track tyres. E30 M3 discs with the rears also being cross-drilled and EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads combined with braided brake lines and ATE Super Blue fluid offer immense stopping power once warm.

HISTORY FILE
Manufactured in November 1988 this fully documented car had three Italian owners before being imported in 2001 by German Cars Ltd. Remaining in the proprietor’s collection until 2006 it was then UK registered and sold to motoring fanatic David Marshall who embarked on creating the beautiful track orientated example presented today with no expense spared. An active member of the BMW Car Club (GB) and attending various classic shows with his local club this car has enjoyed many outings. On his unexpected passing his wife continued the fastidious care and love devoted to the car with annual servicing, professional upkeep and careful storage.

Masses of paperwork in six separate files, two sets of keys with BMW M Sport keys fobs and having covered just 86,287 miles from new. Recently serviced with 5 green lights on the service interval indicator. MOT Feb 2015, Tax June 2014 and HPI Clear. After the passing of David Marshall the car was sold to KGF Classic Cars in the UK where I went ahead and purchased the vehicle in 2014. I brought it back to Germany where it belonged in the heart of the BMW world. As much as David lived for the track my goal was to bring the metal can back to the streets to where most car enthusiasts drive them. The car was fully stripped again as well as a custom rear seat delete kit was built to give it that factory car look and feel without taking away from the aggressive track theme. As much time and love that was put into the vehicle by previous owners, I wanted to make my mark on a piece of history. Proudly being the owner of this magnificent machine for the past two years and only putting less then 3,000 miles on it, I enjoyed every minute I spent with this car. As I am currently residing in Germany till the end of this year, I will be shipping this vehicle back to the states along with me. A motor vehicle that is at least 25 years old can be lawfully imported into the U.S. without regard to whether it complies with all applicable FMVSS.

The vehicle will not arrive to the USA till January or beginning of March 2016. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns and would like to talk business.

BMW displays Concept Compact Sedan: a new 1 Series?

::cck::83
::/introtext::

BMW showed off what it called “The BMW Concept Compact Sedan” this week at the Auto Guangzhou, one of the largest auto shows in China. BMW says its design is influenced by its target market in China, that is, the youthful generation that are “confident, dynamic and extremely quality conscious.” I’m not sure how a generation of people can be dynamic, but we’ll take BMW’s word for it.

Concepts don’t always make it to production, but in this case, it may be within reason to presume that what we are looking at may make it in some way to production as the next generation, front-wheel-drive, four-door 1 series compact. BMW has said that the emphasis of this design was on a roomy cabin for passenger comfort, unlike most car companies whose sole goal is to give their customers chronic backache. Keep a lookout for design cues from this concept making their way into future compact BMWs.
